We organise walks every Sunday. Each walk is carefully planned and reconnoitred by volunteer members, bearing in mind the ages and abilities of those who may be walking.
Walks range over Dartmoor, the Devon and Cornish coast and inland through pretty villages, along interesting waterways and rural lanes.
They are usually between 6 and 8 miles, although the distance can vary depending on the leader’s choice. They are moderately paced with stops for coffee and a packed lunch. We ask that walkers do not overtake the leader unless invited to do so.
All walks include a back marker, who can alert the walk leader to wait if the back of the group drops too far behind, or if there are any problems that occur out of sight of the leader. Sometimes, if convenient, the walk may finish with tea and cake!
Non-drivers who are passengers are asked to contribute towards petrol and car parking costs. Those who live outside Okehampton may sometimes find it convenient to go straight to the start point of the walk. In this case, they are asked to inform the walk leader in advance so that they can be contacted if the leader has to make any last-minute changes.

We normally organise at least one club holiday a year, sometimes two. Some are arranged through HF Holidays, others are arranged independently at a hotel and area of our choosing. We normally organise at least one club holiday a year, sometimes two. Some are arranged through HF Holidays, others are arranged independently at a hotel and area of our choosing. We normally choose areas within the West Country although some have been further away. Holidays are organised by volunteers so the ultimate choice is theirs. In the past, regions have included Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, the Isle of Wight, Church Stretton, the Brecon Beacons and the Cotswolds.

These take place fortnightly at one of several venues in Okehampton and are always well-attended.

Again these are organised by volunteers. They take place monthly, usually in a local pub or restaurant.

We normally have a club Christmas lunch, preceded by a short walk, usually local to Okehampton.
