Welcome to the Okehampton Rambling Club!
The club came into being more than 50 years ago when a small group of people who originally enjoyed walking together at weekends subsequently decided to form a club.
Over the years, membership has grown from a small handful to a membership of nearly 50. Once people join our club, they rarely leave, meaning that, even when they feel they are no longer able to walk, they can join in our social activities.
Calling ourselves “a group of friends”, we are an informal and friendly independent group, unaffiliated to any wider national organisation, with members drawn mainly from Okehampton and the surrounding area. We welcome people of all ages and abilities, the common factor being that we share a love of walking in Devon and Cornwall.
If you think this is for you, please come along!
You are welcome to take part in two or three walks before committing yourself to full membership.
For further details of our club and the walks we do please contact the Chairman (Ian) on 07708 613877 or the Walks Secretary (Paul) on 07969592779 or complete our contact form.
Subscription for the current year is £15 per person, being paid on a pro rata basis if you join partway during a year. Our Treasurer (Roger) can tell you more on 01837 658791.

Walks range over Dartmoor, the Devon and Cornish coast and inland through pretty villages, along interesting waterways and rural lanes.

Social activities are an important feature of our club.
They take place monthly, usually in a local pub or restaurant.
These are an important feature of our club. A proportion of our members have reached an age when they can no longer undertake longer walks. Our social timetable ensures that that they still retain links with current members.
Social evenings are organised by volunteers.
Coffee mornings take place fortnightly at one of several venues in Okehampton and are always well-attended.
